Seidel has been involved with U.S. dressage since 1985, when he settled in California and became a U.S. citizen after earning his Bereiter certificate in Germany. His career accomplishments include being a member of the bronze-medal teams in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics, and finishing ninth at the 1998 World Equestrian Games, the highest-placed American competitor there. That year, he also won the USET Dressage Championship at the Bayer/USET Festival of Champions. After having two horses in contention for a WEG spot this year, Seidel qualified with Nikolaus 7.
