Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows Rally for Horse Welfare & the EQUUS Foundation

Old Salem Farm has pulled out all the stops to benefit the EQUUS Foundation and rally support to protect America’s horses at risk during its Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows, the prestigious two-week event held in North Salem, New York, May 9-14, 2017 and May 16-21, 2017.

Old Salem Farm Foundation Gala

The Old Salem Farm Foundation Gala to benefit the EQUUS Foundation will be held on Sunday, May 14th, in the VIP Tent from 6pm to 10 pm. The gala will feature hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Live music by The Jeff Tuewy Band. Cocktail attire.

EQUUS Foundation Equine Adoption Day

Old Salem Farm will also be hosting the EQUUS Foundation Equine Adoption Day on Sunday, May 21 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Meet beautiful, rescued Thoroughbreds, Wilfork, Sadie and Blonde Marie who are looking for their next chapter in a loving home, courtesy of our Messenger equine welfare organizations ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption and Our Farm Equine Rescue.

Stop by the EQUUS Foundation tent and learn about our work to keep America’s horses safe, working and loved. Meet EQUUStar, Georgina Bloomberg, who will meet and greet at 11:30 and take part in #RideForHorsessocial media posts with guests. If you can’t adopt a horse – no worries! There are so many ways you can help us help horses and we can’t wait to tell you about them.

Horse Stars Hall of Fame Induction

The culminating EQUUS Foundation event during the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows will be the induction of ten horses into the Horse Stars Hall of Fame for 2017 on May 21st in a ceremony center field preceding the $130,000 Empire State Grand Prix.

The Hall of Fame, established by the EQUUS Foundation and US Equestrian in 2013, celebrates the extraordinary talent of horses and the magical bond between horses and people.

The five horses selected by US Equestrian to be honored for their athletic achievements are Catch Me owned by David and Becky Gochman, HH Azur owned by Double H Farm & Francois Mathy, Mighty Nice owned by HnD Group, Sjaantje owned by Gail Aumiller & Dreams Come True Farm and Top Of The Mark owned by Mary Gaylord McClean.

The five horses selected by the EQUUS Foundation to be recognized for their inspirational and life-changing impact on people are Billy White Shoes, deceased, owned by Roxane Lawrence Durant, Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), Dancer owned by JoyRide Center, GTR Patricks Vindicator, owned by Sarah Schaaf, Sutter, owned by Neda DeMayo, Return to Freedom and Twin Pond Camotion, deceased, owned by Debi Demick, Horses Helping Heroes Project.
