October 11, 2011– HRTV, The Network for Horse Sports, will unveil its blockbuster English Horse Sports Showcase programming line-up in style when the 2011 Aachen World Horse Festival debuts on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
The World Equestrian Festival took place in Aachen, Germany in July, and is one of the most important equestrian competitions in the world. This year’s event drew more than 380 riders.
“HRTV is committed to providing viewers with the best equestrian programming on television,” said Scott Daruty, HRTV President. “The premiere of the 2011 Aachen series is the first of our weekly premieres scheduled throughout the remainder of the year that will showcase the best competition of the English equestrian sports world. These programs will give our viewers an opportunity to watch U.S. equestrians on their paths to Olympic qualification.”
HRTV’s opening week of five exciting shows from Aachen features the Marathon Driving Event CAIO, where teams of four horses and three drivers exhibit deft precision and communication in maneuvering through numerous complex obstacles. In the weeks ahead, shows from Aachen will include Eventing, the Aachen Grand Prix Dressage Freestyle, Rolex Cup headlining the Aachen Prize of Europe Jumping CSIO, and the Aachen Grand Prix of Jumping.
The opening show from Aachen provides a precursor to the series of outstanding, internationally acclaimed equestrian shows HRTV will bring to its viewers throughout the Fall season. Viewers will also be treated to highlights from the prestigious Hampton Classic, from Bridgehampton, NY, which is one of the biggest show jumping contests in the U.S. The Hampton Classic had to cope with Hurricane Irene in late August, but successfully endured and the $250,000 Grand Prix, a FEI World Cup qualifier, will be featured.
HRTV’s upcoming equestrian programming will also include highlights from the HITS-produced international hunter/jumper horse show from Saugerties, NY during the second weekend in September. HRTV’s Carolyn Conley was on-hand in upstate New York for the network’s coverage of the Pfizer $1 million Grand Prix, and the Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix Final.
