It’s Official–Morgan Four-in-Hand Team to Compete at 2010 WEG

August 19, 2010–Owned by Alan and Maureen Aulson and driven by David Saunders, the combined Morgan driving team is comprised of Nordby Coalie’s Duke, Nordby Coalie’s Coal Dust, and full brothers Nordby Shadow’s Sam Spade and Nordby Shadow’s Rocky. Since the official announcement will be made in early September, it is not known if the Morgan team will participate as members of the United States Team or compete as individuals.

Saunders and the Morgan team recently gave two demonstrations at the New England Morgan Regional Horse Show in Northampton, Massachusetts, to an enthusiastic and welcoming crowd. On August 30, the Team will go to Tucker Johnson’s farm in Oldwick, New Jersey, for WEG training camp until September 3, and from there will head to Summer Hill Training Center in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. Owners Mike and Joyce Caudill have generously donated their farm to the Team to train until they leave for WEG on September 29. They will arrive in Lexington Horse Park on September 30 and the driving competition will take place from October 7-10. All Morgan visitors are welcome when they are in Dry Ridge; email MorganDrivingTeamUSA@gmail.com to set up a time to visit!

The trek to Kentucky is an enormous endeavor, both physically and financially. Cavalor, a Belgian feed and supplement company, is now the Team’s feed sponsor. You can also become a fan of the Morgan Team on Facebook by visiting their fanpages: Morgans to the WEG and USA Morgan Driving Team.

The World Equestrian Games will take place in Lexington, Kentucky, September 25-October 10 and is the first time they will be held in the United States.
