Think positive: the traffic around Lexington will be perfectly orchestrated and you won?t ever be stuck in any backups the entire time the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games is underway.
But if you find yourself in bumper-to-bumper mode, cheer up and look around. You may enjoy reading the nearest truck.
Lexington is not just showing off the World Equestrian Games in billboards and television ads. This event has wheels! The top photo is the brand new transformation of the Versailles Farm Home and Garden store’s truck. Southern States Feed is really in the WEG spirit! They have a big stake in the Games; after all, Southern States is the horse feed supplier for the Kentucky Horse Park and one of 35 Official Animal Health and Nutrition Partners for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010???.
If these two trucks are any indication of what’s in store, there will be horses galore in the traffic jams with you. They’ll just be plastered on the sides of trucks. Kentucky Ale is the official beer–or should I say ale?–of the World Equestrian Games and it is brewed right in downtown Lexington. You?ll want to visit the brewery and have a tour. And if you like the ale–it’s brewed especially Kentucky-style in old bourbon barrels–you’ll be advised to take a case (or two) home with you because this big truck doesn’t leave the state. Kentucky Ale is only sold at home in Kentucky. And there is no mail order allowed by law.
But it’s not just trucks. I wouldn?t mind having to stare at the little promotions trailer for the Lexington Brewing company if it was stuck in line next to me. It even has a little bar that swings out over the fenders. How cute is that?
Rumor has it that even a couple of the city?s Yellow Taxis have been painted to sport the WEG theme.
