The American Trakehner Association Member Receives 2009 Barton Trophy

The (ATA) recognizes an ATA member who has exhibited exemplary service to the ATA over the year with the Karl-Heinz Barton Memorial Trophy (Barton Award). This annual award is presented at the American Trakehner Association?s Annual Convention. The ATA is pleased to announce that the 2009 recipient was Pam Norton.

Norton was given the Barton Award for her dedication and commitment to the ATA over the past five years. Brad Kerbs, association President states, ?Since becoming a leader within the ATA, Norton has made a significant impact on the organization. Norton?s leadership has saved the ATA thousands of dollars each year and kept the convention in the black.?

In addition to the Barton Award, the ATA gives out five other merit awards:

The Palmenbl??te Award is given to the ATA Registered Purebred Trakehner who has contributed the most in competition to promote the breed in North America. The 2009 winner was SYNCRO, foaled 1994 by Enrico Caruso *Ps*E*, out of Sonset *E* by Habicht, bred by Perlebach Farms, Omaha, NE, owned and ridden by Laura Noyes, Delaware, OH

The Trakehner F??rderverein Award is given to the most successful ATA registered purebred Trakehner in eventing. The 2009 winner was WINDFALL *Pg*, foaled 1992 by Habicht, out of E.St. Wunderm??del xx by Madruzzo ss, bred by Heinz Lembke, Kaufbeuren, Germany, owned by Timothy Holekamp, Columbia, MO, ridden by Darren Chiacchia, Springville, NY

The Trakehner Verband Award is given to the most successful ATA registered purebred Trakehner in dressage. The 2009 award was given to EMPEROR, foaled 1991 by Unkenruf *Pg*E*, out of Estelle by Mahon *E*, bred by Tylord Farm, Benson, VT, owned and ridden by Tracey Durham

The C??sar Memorial Cup is awarded to the ATA approved Trakehner stallion with the year?s highest score in eventing. The 2009 C??sar Memorial Cup was given to WINDFALL *Pg*.

The Gerda Friedrichs Memorial Award is given to an ATA member for outstanding breeding success with a Trakehner broodmare and her foals. The 2009 award was given to MO??T, foaled 1988 by Martini *Pg*E*, out of Marchon *Ps* by Solling, bred by Jean Brinkman

The American Trakehner Association (ATA) was established in 1974 as a non-profit association of breeders, owners, and friends for the promotion and preservation, in the Western Hemisphere, of the warmblood horse of Trakehner origin. The ATA serves a number of purposes including:

?? Maintaining a public registry of Trakehner horses.

?? Marking and branding approved stallions, mares and foals with the Association’s corporate seal.

?? Disseminating information to breeders, owners and friends pertaining to the breeding and raising of Trakehner horses.

?? Promoting the performance of the Trakehner horse in dressage, three-day eventing, hunting, jumping, driving and other sporting disciplines.

?? Encouraging a public understanding of the Trakehner horse, its breeding and performance.
