Horses are notoriously hard on their winter-wear blankets. Here’s what you need on hand to make quick fixes in a pinch:
A lighter: Use a standard lighter to melt frays and prevent small snags from turning into huge holes in blankets made of synthetic materials. Just make sure your horse isn’t still in the blanket when you start the repair.
Duct tape: Duct tape is a short-term solution to help a horse blanket hold together until you find something else for your horse to wear.
Iron-on patches: Denim patches work great for quick fixes to a cotton or canvas blankets.
Extra blanket buckles, straps, and snaps: Often hard to find during the winter months, so stock up now.
A backup blanket: Because, more often than we like, blankets end up beyond repair.
