July 30, 2012 ?? Red Bucket Equine Rescue (RBER), one of the nation?s most? recognizable and reputable equine rescues, today announced that it has successfully? raised enough funding to place a down payment on a new ?forever home? for nearly 50 abused, abandoned and slaughter-bound horses in the organization?s care. As RBER continues to gain recognition as a legitimate rescue organization, the number of horses in its care has continued to climb. In 2011, RBER was asked to vacate its current location, forcing the organization to find a new place to call ?home? for its rescued horses.
?We started RBER in 2009 with nine horses and that number has quickly grown as the economy takes its toll on horse owners,? said Susan Peirce, President/Co-Founder, RBER. ?Purchasing a location of our own has been an ambition from the beginning, but a lack of financial resources prevented us from doing so. Red Bucket Ranch symbolizes an opportunity for us to achieve our long-term goal of self-sustainability.?
Thanks to the support of donors, including the Cecil B. DeMille Foundation, the late Randall E. Presley and an anonymous donor from Newport Beach, RBER will relocate to its new home on June 15 where it will continue its mission of creating second chances for horses who have suffered in unspeakable ways.
According to Cecilia DeMille Presley, Trustee, Cecil B De Mille Foundation, RBER?s level of commitment to its horses is unwavering and its success placing retrained and rehabilitated horses in new homes speaks to the organization?s unique operating model.
?Red Bucket is one of the best run non-profits I?ve seen, and the valuable work they do there is nothing short of amazing,? DeMille said. ?When we heard they had been asked to relocate and were in desperate need of funding, we were happy to help. We hope others are encouraged to do the same as Red Bucket continues to save horses lives and stop?unspeakable abuse.?
