February 24, 2009 — According to an email from dressage Olympian Debbie McDonald, Brentina returned to her winter home in California yesterday after undergoing colic surgery February 10.

“It is hard for me to see my girl looking so thin and lacking the muscle that once was so prominent,” Debbie reported. “But she is in good spirits and very happy to have her stall back. It was so wonderful to spend some quality time with her again.”

Brentina is on a strict diet, but should be able to have treats again in a month or so.

“It is very hard to refuse that face of hers when she is begging,” Debbie admitted.

Debbie also thanked Brentina’s supporters.

“Thank you again for all your prayers and support, they must have been answered,” she wrote.”
