WEG: Wendy Wares-Cooke — U.S. Driving

Wendy Wares-Cooke has served as USET Director of Driving Activities since 2000.

Wares-Cooke joined the USET after 15 years with the American Horse Shows Association (AHSA–now known as USA Equestrian), including three years as Director of the International Department. Her responsibilities in that position included supervising the AHSA’s Athlete Services Department (which is based at the USET Headquarters in Gladstone, NJ); working with Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) Championships, including the North American Young Riders’ Championships, held in the U.S.; the calendar of FEI events in the U.S.; licensing FEI officials (including veterinarians) in the U.S.; and the interpretation of FEI rules.

Wares-Cooke was part of the AHSA’s International Department since its formation in 1989. Prior to her present position, she was Director of Eventing, Vaulting and Driving. Earlier responsibilities with the AHSA included horse passports, awards and membership.

Wares-Cooke is an active rider and she has a five-year-old Thoroughbred. She lives in Sparta, NJ, with her husband Steve.
