May 23, 2011 — For Standardbred enthusiasts interested in helping the breed, the United States Trotting Associaton offers Halters for Hope. The program collects used halters with engraved nameplates from Standardbred racing’s top racehorses, sires and broodmares, and offers them for sale to the public to benefit horse rescue organizations that benefit Standardbreds. 100 percent of proceeds from purchased halters go to the rescue and adoption groups.

Halters are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Requests should be emailed to haltersforhope@ustrotting.com. Participants will be contacted when the chosen halter is available. Upon receipt of the donation, Halters for Hope administrator Andy Cohen will ship the halters to purchasers. Donations will be made directly to the charitable rescue organization stipulated for the specific horse.

Only one halter per horse is available at a time. A waiting list will be established to fulfill all orders. If a selected halter is not immediately available, requests will be placed on a waiting list. For more information about Halters for Hope, click here.
