Kimberly S. Brown Takes The Reins At EquiManagement

Kimberly S. Brown has been named Associate Publisher/Editor for the quarterly EquiManagement magazine owned by Active Interest Media.

November 30, 2012 — Kimberly S. Brown has been named Associate Publisher/Editor for the quarterly EquiManagement magazine owned by Active Interest Media (AIM).

Brown will develop and manage the print and digital editorial of EquiManagement’s magazine and website beginning in 2013, as well as develop and launch projects for the veterinary-only brand that is focused on business solutions for equine practitioners.

“I’m tremendously excited to be actively involved in the publishing industry again,” said Brown. “And I’m delighted with the opportunity to apply my knowledge and passion of serving the veterinary industry while working closely with such an outstanding publishing group as Active Interest Media.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Kim as Associate Publisher/Editor of EquiManagement,” said AIM Equine Network General Manager Tom Winsor. “A talented editor with many years of experience, she will be a great asset to our team.”

In 1980 Brown started as a staff writer for The Blood-Horse, and her career at that publishing company spanned 29.5 years. Her final position at that company was Publisher/Editor of The Horse: Your Guide To Equine Health Care and its associated digital products.

In 2010 Brown left Blood-Horse Publications to join Dr. Joe Pagan’s internationally renowned equine nutrition and research company Kentucky Equine Research (KER). Her main role was to assist KER in developing digital outreach on behalf of that company and their global feed manufacturer partners. The marketing team at KER, led by Brown, developed the outstanding content-driven website Equinews.com (recognized as a top-three Addy Award finisher for design), and they created award-winning newsletters and content as recognized by AHP. KER will remain a key client for Brown’s THIN Inc. in 2013.

EquiManagement, launched in 2009, serves the equine veterinary community as a quarterly journal of practice management ideas and tools. “We aim to help vets run their businesses more smoothly and profitably so they will have more time to focus on their mission: quality care of their equine patients,” said Winsor.

Brown will attend the 2012 American Association of Equine Practitioners’ Convention on behalf of EquiManagement.
