Monica Stevenson Launches Fine Art Equine Photography Website

Equine photographer Monica Stevenson plans several shows for her work at equestrian venues this winter season. In addition her prints are available through the newly launched website Monica Stevenson Photography.

October 23, 2012 — Monica Stevenson’s fine art photography focuses on a subject increasingly integral to her life: horses. Stevenson’s haunting black-and-white equine photographs gracefully capture horses relationship with their human companions and the environment. Her images are rich in feeling and texture, reflecting the enduring romance of equestrian tradition. Sometimes playful and other times mystical, the tone of the work reflects the historic bond between horse, man and nature. This series of images, shot with a vintage Rolleiflex camera and printed in a warm sepia tone, evokes an era of the handcrafted image.

Stevenson’s fascination with horses has taken her on journeys around the world. Her series includes images of snow polo in St. Moritz, summer polo in Montr?al and Argentina, show jumpers from California, rejoneadores from Mexico and wild horses in France. Both Stevenson’s commercial and fine art images reflect her singular vision and creativity. Her passionate and elegant photographs have already caused quite stir in equine circles worldwide, with the series being exhibited in galleries such as the Mercedes Benz galleries in New York City and the Katonah Museum of art, and as part of the permanent collection in the Focus Gallery, London. Stevenson spent several weeks in the summer of 2010 documenting the Arabian horse for H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi.? Stevenson plans to expand her work to include several more equestrian disciplines and geographic locations. Book and video projects are in the works and she is available to select clients for private commissions as well as advertising and editorial assignments.?
