UB40 Offspring Shine at KWPN-NA Keurings

Numerous keuring champions among his North American crops confirm UB40?s presence as a renowned sire.

September 13, 2013–The KWPN-NA (Royal Dutch Warmblood Studbook of North America) keurings are underway and Iron Spring Farm’s UB40 shines, with six foals earning 1st Premium status and a mare receiving her Star predicate. ?The 12-year-old stallion has been a successful sire since his debut foal crop in the Netherlands and has already produced two Approved stallions, Apache and El Capone. UB40’s daughter Izara ISF, out of Watch Me Elite/Sport by Sir Sinclair, was named the Dressage Foal and Young Dressage Horse Champion at the keuring held at Iron Spring Farm. This same cross also produced a second filly, Isadora ISF, who was named the Dressage Foal Reserve Champion. Both are embryo transfer foals.

The KWPN judges described Izara ISF as having “good suspension and articulation in the trot and canter.” Watch a video of Izara at http://www.ironspringfarm.com/photos-videos/other-video-galleries.

A powerful and correct hind end is familiar praise for many UB40 sons and daughters, including Eliscia SSF who was evaluated at the keuring at Apple Lane Farm in Lancaster, MA. The mare, bred and owned by Scot and Carol Tolman of Shooting Star Farm, received her Star predicate, as well as the ribbon for the best dressage horse at the keuring.

Fleetwood ISF, also by UB40, rounded out the positive impressions made on the judges during the first group of keurings. The three-year-old gelding earned his Star predicate and had previously received Dressage Foal Champion at the 2010 KWPN-NA keuring, as well as being named a Top Five Dressage Foal that year.

Iron Spring Farm’s other KWPN stallions have also been positively represented, including Contango Preferent who continues to produce exceptional sport offspring. Alex Robertson’s Citation ISF, by Contango out of Saigon Elite by Jazz Preferent, won the 5-6-year-old DG Bar Cup for dressage horses at the ISF keuring with a score of 79 points. The Contango daughter Feikje Balia P, bred and owned by Klaas and Mares Vanderploeg, received high marks from the judges, including a 9 on her trot and an 80 for conformation and movement, while earning her Star predicate.

Sir Sinclair is becoming a sire of note both of FEI dressage horses, as well as versatile athletes, such as Hamira and Hillara who earned 1st Premium in hunters and dressage, respectively. Sir’s 6-year-old daughter Cantata, out of Wyndale by Contango Preferent, owned and bred by Suellen Myers of Willow Spring Farm, previously earned her Sport predicate in dressage and now is Keur. The KWPN jury remarked that she “is a tall long-lined and elegant mare with a kind expression. She showed three clear and supple gaits.”
