Practical Horseman and Cosequin? are pleased to announce Shannon Brown as the grand-prize winner of Practical Horseman“s “Training with the Stars: Win a Day with Phillip Dutton” contest. Phillip Dutton will come to the facility of Shannon”s choosing and teach a one-day clinic for Shannon and nine of her friends.
Shannon is a resident of Guyton, Ga. and plans to ride her Standardbred/Quarter Horse-cross Aces and Eights (Blackjack) in the clinic. She currently competes Blackjack at the Novice level.
“I was shocked and definitely surprised,” said Shannon. “Since there’s not a lot of eventing in our area, it’s a great opportunity for all of us to ride with an Olympic level trainer.”
More than 450 riders entered the contest by submitting a 250-word essay on why they deserve to win a clinic with Phillip Dutton. 10 finalists were then selected to submit a video about themselves. The 10 finalists were Jessica Bowen, Barbara Britt, Shannon Brown, Kenneth Peterson, Deena Cahill, Abbie Jones, Erica Seas, Beth Lumgair, Tracy Mandrona and Amanda Mink.
