June 2, 2011 — Active Interest Media’s Equine Network recently announced the winners of the Practical Horseman Ireland Riding Vacation Sweepstakes.
Tina Zabielski-Schroeder of Crown Point, Indiana, was selected as the grand-prize winner of the Ireland sweepstakes. Schroeder won a 6-day, 7-night Ireland Galway and Clare Trail Ride in Galway, Ireland, from Active Travel. The trip includes 6 days of guided trail riding, 7 nights accommodation in bed and breakfasts, and airfare from Aer Lingus. Accompanying Zabielski-Schroeder will be her husband, Raymond Schroeder.
After losing her 32-year-old off-the-track Thoroughbred in March, Schroeder was close to giving up riding until she received the call a month later that she had won the trip. Schroeder will leave for Ireland during the first week of September. She and her husband are both beginning riders.
“I thought it was a joke,” said Schroeder. “My husband and I didn’t go on a honeymoon. We have been married three years; this is perfect.
Second-prize winner, Kari Unebasami of Honolulu, Hawaii, received a pair of Dubarry Galway boots.
Third-prize winner, Pamela Jacobs of Aptos, Calif., received a Horseware of Ireland Amigo jersey cooler, stable sheet, travel boots and halter and lead rope set.
