Everyone is talking about the Old Spice Guy. He’s the hottest thing (in more way than one) in American television marketing. In case you are like me and don’t have a clue what people are talking about, here’s what you’ve been missing:
It’s almost enough to make me watch tv, although I was wondering why they left the shower running in the background–how much water did that waste? And the horse he ends up sitting on doesn’t seem to have a saddle pad. I wonder if there’s a PBS version of the Old Spice Man–maybe he wears glasses and understands the inner workings of both you and your laptop.
A few weeks ago, the word came that the Old Spice Man was making custom videos for bloggers (I wasn’t one of them, obviously) and he was the king of social media and the news. Great. And then the next word was that WEG had channeled him for a commercial spoof. This I had to see, and YouTube obliged, so I thought I’d share it with you and ask you to use the comment form below: what’s your reaction?
I don’t know much about who Michael Johnathon is and since I hadn’t seen the Old Spice Man ad until after I saw this ad, I think it’s a riot that they took on an icon. Even better that there is a horse in each ad!
