December 7, 2011–Scarlett Oak Equestrian Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand, is now offering opportunities to have a true adventure on horseback. The new ?treks? offer riding at Mt. Stanford Farm, a 1300-acre sheep and cow farm nestled in the breathtaking scenery of the Waipura wine country in the Hurunui Valley.
Enjoy cantering over rolling hills through lush scenery and jumping logs and ditches. Explore the countryside at your own pace and create your own route using the map of the farm. Best of all, each group of three has exclusive use of the farm for the day, providing a true ?get away from it all? experience.
The day-long rides leave Scarlett Oak at 7 a.m., and include a two-hour morning ride, a relaxing picnic lunch at the cottage or under a shade tree, and then a two- hour afternoon ride with return to the stable by 6 p.m. Horses are provided by Scarlett Oak and the rides are challenging and suited for intermediate to advanced riders. The trekking rides offer an additional aspect to the wonderful facilities and programs that can be experienced during a riding holiday at Scarlett Oak Equestrian Center.
The newly-opened facility (convenient to Christchurch airport) reflects owner? Celine Falletta?s love of eventing, with its cross-country and derby schooling area as well as an all-weather 20m x 60m dressage arena and an all-weather 40m x 60m show jumping arena, complete with show jumps. All of the facilities are set against the beautiful countryside of Canterbury province.
Accommodations include two-bedroom self-contained cottages on the grounds, with a private garden and view of the grass paddocks. Breakfast is included. For an additional fee the hosts will fill your cottage kitchen with your favorite goodies. Just give them a shopping list before your arrival.
Scarlett Oak Equestrian Centre offers a variety of vacation packages to suit international guest riders. Riding vacation packages can include clinics by international riders, opportunities to compete and foxhunt, side trips to wineries and spas, as well as golf and cross country riding.
